Which country splashes the most cash?
Expert Market, Europe’s leading B2B marketplace, has interrogated the latest UK Government data to reveal which countries enjoyed the longest and highest-spending business trips to the UK during the last year.
The research found that - shockingly - the biggest overall spenders on average, tended to come from the world’s poorest countries.
When broken down to a per day average spend, the highest spenders were a little more predictable with the USA and China making the top 10. However, it was Barbados who landed in first place, outspending the United States on average by more than 38% each day.
Unsurprisingly, the data showed that it tends to be businessmen and women from more distant countries that stay for longer and spend more when visiting the UK on business.
Closer to home, European nations were found to rank among the lowest spenders in the UK, as well as among those who stayed for the shortest amount of time. However, the data did highlight the financial differences between Eastern and Western Europe/, with Bulgarian’s only spending £94 during their 3.5 day business trips, whilst German’s spent more than four times as much (£407) during shorter visits (3.18 days).
The infographic below highlights the biggest spenders around the world, while underneath you'll find the full table of data.
